Snow Covered and Slippery

The weekend started, as usual, with breakfast at the local cafe, some organizing of paper work and some grocery shopping. I used the opportunity to eat lunch at home to replicate one of the meat plates I often see around town during the lunch hour. In reality it's essentially a sandwich unassebled . Meat, lettuce, and cheese on a plate. Served with bread of some kind. But it always looks artful and its generally very good. Seems more like a meal than a sandwich does.

Saturday night Queen Bee and I went out for dinner to Costello. It's a restaurant we've been going to for a while. It is very stylish and the food is great, but the service is a bit disorganized in the past year. It was the same last night. I.e. it took a long time for the order to arrive but it was very good when t finally came. Mine started with a selection of raw meat (ground beef and sausages) then we each had grilled tuna which was outstanding. It began to snow lightly on the way home around midnight and we debated if it was going to be a light dusting or something more substantial.

We generally don't get big snows at our altitude here. Not like Michigan. But is does snow occationally. This morning settled any debate we had last night! About 5 inches as I walked to breakfast at 8:00. Nearly a foot when we walked home from Church at noon. The winter ambiance convinced us to stop into the cafe for a a capaccino and a hot chocolate. They were perfect.

So now we are getting on with our Sunday. I just finished the first round of shoveling, with the snow still falling steadily. Queen Bee is cooking up a batch of chocolate chip cookies for an event at her language school tomorrow. These are a rare delicacy here and are always popular.
