Now that we are mostly settled in our new apartment, Queen Bee and I finally had the opportunity to do a nice Sunday morning walk around Avigliana. We have been looking for a historic church to attend mass so we went on a little expedition to find San Pietro which is one of the historic churches within walking distance.
The picture above is Porta San Giovanni leading to Via San Pietro.
Here you can the church of San Pietro from a distance as we began our walk. Unfortunately this is the best view of the church we got this morning because the gates were lock when we got there. Visiting hours were in the afternoon.
Above, just a typical street scene as we walked through this historic district.
Queen Bee tells me the Cafe' Palio is nice alternative place for a morning coffee. I need to try it some weekend morning.
This is a photo of Porta San Pietro in the vicinity of the church. It is one of the remaining medieval city gates.
After our walk to the church, we took a little side trip to Lago Avilgiana which is one of two small lakes on the edge of town. We are looking forward to the warmer weather so we can take a walk along the trail that circles the lake.
Our final stop was for some sweets and a couple of very nice cappuccinos at to Cafe' in Piazza Conte Rosso. When going to pay, Queen Bee met a local author.
